Dana Oertel, Psy.D.

 

Dr. Oertel is the director of California Forensic Psychology Associates. He has performed a wide variety of forensic psychology services including child custody and parenting evaluations, competency to stand trial evaluations, and mental health diversion evaluations. He also has valuable experience in a number of areas of clinical psychology including psychodiagnostic assessment, behavior modification, and psychotherapy. Along with this practice, he is employed by the Department of State Hospitals-Napa as a Senior Psychologist Specialist in the Forensic Services Department.

Dr. Oertel completed his postdoctoral training at the Child and Family Evaluation Service in the Center of Excellence for Children, Families, and the Law at William James College in Newton, MA. This organization specializes in child and family forensic issues. He conducted many types of parenting evaluations, assisted in parenting coordination services, and gained experience facilitating high conflict parenting classes. Other aspects of his clinical training included forensic inpatient and correctional settings.

Kayla Allen, Psy.D.

 

Dr. Allen is an experienced clinical and forensic psychologist specializing in the evaluation and treatment of forensic and correctional populations. Dr. Allen's expertise includes psychodiagnostic, cognitive, and violence risk assessment. Dr. Allen provides consultative evaluations in both clinical and psycholegal contexts. She has extensive experience with evaluation of trial competency. Along with this practice, she is employed as a psychologist at the Board of Parole in the Forensic Assessment Division.

Dr. Allen completed an APA-Accredited internship and post-doctoral training at the California Department of State Hospitals-Vacaville. She was also employed at the Department of State Hospitals-Napa as a Senior Psychologist Specialist in the Forensic Services Department. She trained in a variety of clinical and forensic settings including psychiatric hospitals, medical hospitals, and prisons. Dr. Allen trained extensively in assessment, including diagnostic, neuropsychological, forensic, and risk assessment.
